A satisfactory week for the K1 in Fort William last week.

On Monday the loco carried wreath in memory of Derek Norris. Derek had been a regular Jacobite support crew member in the past so it was fitting to remember him in this way on the day of his funeral.

The engine is running very well although we did have our first broken spring to deal with on Monday and one of the battery chargers gave up on Friday resulting in the fixed GSMR being replaced by the portable unit for Saturday's Jacobite.

If you are in to celebrating our loco's birthdays the K1 is 70 today. This was marked at the end of last week with balloons attached to the front of the engine and a cake. No beer over the running plate though as, like the rest of us, loco's are not allowed alcohol on the national network.
