Q6 boiler is back in the frames

Print

Latest news from Crewe is that the Q6 boiler is back in the frames.

They estimate that it will take another two weeks to get the rest of it fitted back together. But that will not be the end of the story in any case. We still have the inframes steam test to be done (place and date yet to be determined), its return to the NYMR to arrange so it can be reunited with its tender, and, in between times, a programme of prepping and effectively winter maintenance before it can move anywhere under its own power, after over a year out of traffic.

On the J27 boiler, work has restarted. The boiler is now on its side and they are continuing to take out stays, rivets etc.
