The K1 moved up to Fort William on Friday 17th May and worked its first Jacobite of the season on Sunday 19th.
The loco settled down very nicely with no significant problems to overcome. It therefore satisfactorily completed its first rostered week of work on Saturday. It's next rostered week commences this coming Sunday 2nd June.
We have achieved quite a lot since the loco arrived at Carnforth last September and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the work undertaken to the loco either at Carnforth or elsewhere. Particular thanks are however due to the Carnforth regulars, Chris Henwood, Steve Gibson, Les Harper, Mike Bloomfield and Angie Buxton, who showed tremendous dedication and commitment to see the job through. We could not have got the loco finished in time without them.
Thanks are also due to our CME John Graham for his help, encouragement and advice and for all at West Coast for making us feel welcome, prioritising our contract work over their own when necessary and for generally being helpful.
Now that the K1 is working I will reduce the frequency of the progress reports but will update you occasionally as to how we are getting on.
