Ian reports a wet and windy morning on Tuesday, but it brightened up later for Bill Dobson, Nigel Hall, Gordon Wells, Tom Redman, Jon Bradley and Ian himself.

Nigel varnished the J27 buffer beam, and applied some black gloss inside the cab. Later, he worked on the top half of the cab which is situated just outside the MPD boiler shop, cleaning up the area inside where the lefthand handrail boss fits, as it was slightly damaged when the top of the cab was removed. At the end of the day, the J27 side rods were refitted by Chris Henwood, Robson Hewitson, Dave Chummers, Ian and Tom, making it ready for movement to the MPD for beading the boiler stays.

Wednesday was a fine, sunny, but windy day at Grosmont with Bill Dobson, Steve Hyman, Nigel Hall, Terry Newman, Trevor Wilford and Ian Pearson.

Nigel rallied around again, cleaning various parts of the J27 such as the windows ready for varnishing next week. He also cleaned and varnished the driver's and fireman’s seats.

On Monday 28 February, Bill and Ian will be in attendance to witness the cold exam on the Q6 with the Bureau Veritas inspector. The J27 is due to have its hydraulic test on the same day.
