The loco was brought into the shed on 5 Road last week and had its new stay heads knocked over, and has since passed its annual Cold exam alongside the Q6. Thanks to Ian Pearon and Bill Dobson for overseeing the inspection on both locomotives.

The buffer beams, tender front and loco cab are looking very smart once again with Nigel Halls continued efforts on the painting and varnishing project. Many thanks to him for this.

Mike Bloomfield, the unofficial NELPG courier, kindly picked up the big end brasses last week for delivery to Carnforth to be machined. He also picked up the defective blower valve spindle and stuffing box to take to Teesside to be replaced. Thanks to Mike Bloomfield, Paul Huthison and Neal Woods For organising the work on these components.

In the meantime Richard de Sadeleer and Robson Hewitson have been progressing the winter mechnical work. The coupling rods were removed last week, giving opportunity for a measure up and an inspection of the Crank pins and rod bushes.

There is still plenty to do before the Boiler's Hydraulic test and subsequent Hot exam and entry into traffic. Lots of fitting, NDTing , examining and cleaning to be on with, certainly something for everyone.
