We have worked on the K1 for 3 days since the last report.
Inside the firebox the drilling of pilot holes to all of the stays where the outer wrapper is to be removed but the copper retained has been completed and a start has been made removing the foundation ring rivets - most of the heads burnt off the LH side and a start made on the RH. More needle gunning of the inside of the barrel has also been carried out (still quite a lot to do though).
On the frames more LH cylinder bolts have been removed. While we had budgeted for replacing all of these this will not now be necessary. The inside of the frames behind the LH cylinder and associated frame stretcher have been cleaned and the loco steam brake cylinder cladding has been removed.
Many thanks to Angie Buxton, Lizzy Fielding, Steve Gibson, Mike Bloomfield and Rolly Bingham who have all worked on the loco since the last update.
