The J72 arrived at the Wensleydale Railway last Tuesday (29th May), but in a last minute change and to cover for a Locomotive that failed on Saturday at Locomotion, the J72 is now going to Locomotion for 3 weeks to take up duties until the Furness Trusts FR20 returns to the museum at the end of the month. The J72 will then return to the Wensleydale Railway in time for its first booked day in traffic which isn’t until 30th June. The Wensleydale Railway haven’t yet finalised all the operating days for the J72 but we will let you know what these are once we have been told.

The J72 will be involved in several key events at Locomotion during its stay – including some driver experience sessions. These can be either 1/2 hour slots or 1/2 day slots depending on your budget, so if you would like the opportunity to drive one of our engines, here is your chance!

Operating days at Locomotion for passenger services are 9th 10th June, linking in with the Shildon Model Railway Show. On the 16th 17th June it is the museum’s Cab It event, plus 30-minute driver experience sessions on the J72 are available for just £50. There are still a few slots available – for more information, or to book, please contact the museum gift shop on 01388 771439.

In addition to these the J72 will be used for a number of half day driver experience days – these cost £250 and there are opportunities to book during the locomotive’s visit to Shildon.
