Special General Meeting - 19th October 2018

Saturday, 20 October 2018 19:30 Chris Lawson

At the Special General Meeting on Friday night, 44 members were present, thereby more than constituting the necessary quorum, and the motion "to approve expenditure of up to £75,000, including contingencies, on extending the K1's mainline certification for a further 3 years", was approved by a large majority.

Including proxies, there were 175 in favour, 3 against, and 5 abstentions. This therefore more than satisfied the 75% approval threshold required for motions considered at Special General Meetings. During the meeting, Paul Hutchinson confirmed that the planned programme of work on the K1 had been approved by our certification body (Wayne Jones and Partners), and gave details of the costings making up the £75,000 estimate. Those latter will be included in the note of the meeting which will be in the next issue of News.

There are still some items outstanding which have been raised during the consideration of this issue, particularly at the Open Meeting held at the end of September. I hope that we will be able to deal with these at the next Open Meeting (aka The Bunfight) on 16 November, details of which are in the latest issue of News.

We look forward to the successful completion of this project and to the K1's return to traffic in 2019. We hope to post regular reports on progress in the K1 blog.
